Well woman care respecting the natural cycle
NaProTECHNOLOGY™
and
FEMM
Women deserve health care that seeks to nurture and support them as they strive to become as healthy as they can be. They also deserve care that that respects the natural ecology of their bodies. Using artificial hormones and chemicals can block natural healthy cycles. Gianna of Albany instead offers care with a natural, restorative, scientifically based approach to monitoring your health and managing your fertility. This life affirming medical care promotes chastity, accepts unplanned pregnancies, embraces large and small families, supports those using natural family planning, and treats those with medical problems while respecting their faith. This care is delivered with a deep commitment to honoring the dignity of women and the sanctity of human life.

Giana of Albany teaches Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System, a method of charting a woman's cycle that can be used as an alternative to contraception.
The system teaches women to confidently identify their times of fertility and infertility throughout their cycles, Women, when tracking their own biomarkers of fertility, become empowered by learning their own natural rhythms. They discover a way to record what is going on inside their bodies from the outside. Because of its reliability and objectivity, this recording system has become a medical model for normal healthy cycles.
However, it may have even more power in understanding and treating abnormal gynecologic conditions. If a couple are tracking their signs of fertility, very specific biomarkers can be identified which give an indication of reduced fertility potential or an increased risk of miscarriage. A recording of these biomarkers is essential for treatment with NaProTECHNOLOGY™. The Creighton Model was developed by Dr. Thomas Hilgers when conducting research to better understand normal healthy fertility cycles, and it has proven to be a very reliable record of the biological markers of fertility.
At Gianna of Albany, you can learn to track these biological markers of fertility through Lily of the Mohawks FertilityCare™. Dr. Patterson and others are specially trained to teach FertilityCare™ classes to those wishing to better understand their fertility cycles. These classes begin with an introductory session followed by private sessions with your teacher. You can sign up for these classes from the appointments section of this website by clicking here and following the instructions for a new patient.

Natural Procreative Technology, or NaProTECHNOLOGY™, is a revolutionary women’s health science that respects the dignity of women by working cooperatively with their natural cycles. The science of NaProTECHNOLOGY™ evolved as physicians found connections between cycle patterns and gynecological conditions. While developing the FertilityCare system, Dr. Hilgers noticed that women suffering from similar reproductive health disorders had similar abnormalities in biological markers of fertility. He was then able to develop evaluation and treatment strategies targeted to each woman's unique cycle. Dr. Pilar Vigil and her colleagues at the Reproductive Health Research Institute have also developed FEMM protocols based on their expertise in reproductive endocrinology to expand on the ability to find and treat root causes for ovulatory issues.
All medical interventions seek to identify the underlying cause of a woman’s reproductive health difficulties and to correct underlying abnormalities. By working cooperatively with the natural cycle, the treatments are designed to preserve, restore, or enhance a woman’s fertility and can offer her hope and healing. This approach differs from other approaches to managing women’s gynecologic and reproductive health disorders, which often attempt to bypass the problem using an artificial technology, or “cover up” the disorder using hormonal contraceptives. The NaProTECHNOLOGY™and FEMM approaches are unique in that they do not suppress or destroy fertility; instead, they respect the dignity of women and marriage, restore the natural ecology of a woman’s body and are morally acceptable to people of all faiths.
NaProTECHNOLOGY™ is supported by scientific research conducted by physicians associated with the International Institute for Restorative Reproductive Medicine. One of the most exciting applications of NaProTECHNOLOGY™ is in the area of infertility. When using NaProTECHNOLOGY™, physicians from around the world report having helped as many as 70% of infertile couples conceive a pregnancy depending on the underlying cause. This approach is not only successful in treating infertility, but is also dedicated to improving a woman's overall health.
